Dr. Mary Lutze- Writing Center Director, English Faculty
Email: Mary.Lutze@uafs.edu Bio: Prior to joining the faculty at the University of North Texas, Dr. Lutze held the positions of Inaugural Writing Center Director at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (2020 - 2025) and Writing Center Associate Director at Loyola University Chicago (2019 - 2020). As a new Texan, Dr. Lutze is excited to discover all that North Texas has to offer! She earned her Ph.D. in English from Loyola University Chicago in May 2020, her Master's in English from Missouri State University, and her Bachelor of Arts in English from Evangel University. In her downtime, she enjoys reading whodunnits and mystery novels, taking walks with her French Water Dog (the UNT Writing Center Dog, Nori) and her husband (Alex), streaming horror movies, playing trivia, undertaking adventurous DIY projects, tending her various (and hilariously named) house plants, and drinking coffee. Odds are, you will find her in her office listening to either music, podcasts, or audiobooks while brainstorming how best to assist UNT students in achieving academic success. Research: Dr. Lutze's academic interests include Early Modern Literature, Disability Studies, Deaf Theatre, and Writing Center Theory and Practice. Currently, Dr. Lutze's research projects include a researched monograph under review at a university press (Reforming Sensory Disability in Early Modern England) and a contracted co-written monograph on Deaf Theatre through Bloomsbury Academic Press.
